We're delighted to welcome the orchestra's own principal horn KATIE JONES as soloist in Mozart's greatly loved Horn Concerto No 1.

The concert opens with Schubert's two-movement 'Unfinished' Symphony, No 8 in B minor. One of his most popular compositions, no-one really knows why he never returned to it after completing just a few bars of a third movement. Perhaps he just thought there was no more to be said?

In the second half of the concert you can hear one of Tchaikovsky's most enduring works, his fourth symphony in F minor (1877). It is distinguished by its magnificent power and brilliance in a virtuoso piece of orchestral scoring.
